After flashing early promise in 2024, Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright is ready to make noise in his second NFL season. Despite an inconsistent rookie campaign, the explosive back isn’t shying away from high expectations.
Wright made headlines during an appearance on the Up & Adams Show, expressing strong confidence in his ability to lead the Dolphins’ rushing attack this season.

“I know I can be a top back in this league,” Wright said. “I feel like just my skill set, my ability and the system I’m in, it sets me up to be great. It’s God’s plan, staying the course. It’s a long season, staying the course, doing what I got to do every time I touch that rock, every time the ball comes to me just make a play with the ball. I’m very excited. I’m very blessed to be in this position. It’s going to be a very great year this year.”
The Dolphins selected Wright in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he opened his rookie season in impressive fashion—averaging 5.3 yards per carry over his first six games. But the second half told a different story: Wright averaged just 1.8 yards per carry to close out the season, struggling to find running lanes and consistency.
Heading into 2025, Wright enters training camp healthier, more conditioned, and mentally focused on sustaining success across a full 17-game schedule. He’ll have plenty of competition, with a loaded Miami backfield that includes De’Von Achane, veteran Alexander Mattison, and rookie Ollie Gordon.
Still, the 21-year-old believes he’s positioned for a big year in Mike McDaniel’s high-octane offense, which emphasizes speed, space, and big-play potential.
Wright’s ability to bounce back and earn a meaningful role will be one of the most intriguing storylines of Dolphins camp. If his confidence translates to on-field production, Miami’s offense could be even more dynamic in 2025.
Stay tuned—Jaylen Wright is ready to prove himself.
